wedding trends 2017-2018

With green being the Pantone colour of 2017, greenery in many different textures and hues have featured in a big way already this year. Consider native greenery too - Manuka, Kanuka and Bracken Fern for example, less carbon miles, spraying, and of course that distinctive New Zealand look.

Bouquets and arrangements have been free-form and natural, with blush, burgundy, peaches and greys accenting the greenery.

For a green theme in a different sense, a great eco-friendly substitute to synthetic confetti that we are seeing a lot of, is to use leaves (fresh or dried). Fresh olive or rosemary leaves make excellent confetti and so does snow gum. Free-form and natural, eco friendly trends this year.

We are seeing a blue trend arise with current clients planning their weddings - navy or blue-grey accents, even blue wedding dresses! Metallics continue to feature in the form of gold or copper cutlery, table runners and in edible gold paint on favours and cakes. Flowers in classic whites or berry shades will set these off perfectly, or for the more adventurous, tonal oranges, hot pinks or sunny yellow look amazing too.

Elle Decor reports that the Pantone Color Institute executive director Leatrice Wiseman has revealed what color and design trends we can expect for 2018;

Neutral Metallics and anything pearlized or translucent will feature, and another standout trend will include a movement to intense colors rather than pastels.
